DENTOPHOBIA: FEAR OF DENTISTS

Anxiety-free and painless dental treatment, if necessary with general anesthesia, is our specialty. We can help patients with dentophobia (dental phobia: anxiety or fear of dental procedures) in our dental practice in Frankfurt Höchst.

First and foremost, our goal is to thoroughly care for our phobic patients. This caring leads to a long-term and permanent reduction of dental fear and is only made possible gradually and with a relationship of trust between patient and dentist. The success of our concept is proven: For over 9 years we have treated phobic patients in our dental practice in the greater Frankfurt area and Main-Taunus-Kreis (MTK).

A stress-free, relaxed atmosphere before, during and after the treatment is therefore an important requirement. To this end, we avoid unnecessary waiting periods. We also provide varied and interesting reading material in the waiting room and pleasant music in the light, Mediterranean treatment rooms, which do not have a typical “dentist office” atmosphere.

For many patients, these measures are not enough to overcome the years of pent-up anxiety. In spite of positive experiences (“it really doesn’t hurt anymore”) the nightmare of the dentist loses only some of its terror.

A dental treatment constitutes a significant stress situation for many patients, which effect is not only psychologically distressful. Unfortunately, until recently, this fear has been put into the category “there’s nothing to do but power through.” These are by no means isolated cases: There are numerous reasons why people would be thankful for relief in connection with dental procedures. And almost none of these reasons appears to be imagined or exaggerated. Frequently, the reason for fear is negative experiences with previous dentist visits.

Children are especially vulnerable and, in such cases, are impossible to convince to go to another dentist appointment.

Or strong defense and gag reflexes in the mouth and throat make a dental treatment simply agony.

Perhaps an allergy to local anesthetics or trypanophobia (fear of needles or injections) is known - which affects approximately 80% - 90% of the German population.

Also, in terms of supporting handicapped or disabled patients, the dental treatment can become for everyone involved a kind of stress test when the patient is forced into a treatment for a reason he does not understand.

In our dental practice in Frankfurt Höchst, we work together with experienced anesthesiologists to provide an anxiety-free and relaxed treatment, even in difficult cases: dental treatment with general anesthesia.

Dr. Nicole Leick and Dr. Anand Gilbert Leick have, over many years, developed successful and recognized concepts to work with patients to conquer the anxiety and fear of dental, surgical and also implantological interventions. In a TV report by RTL, you can see us working with phobic patients.
